Poor quality and poor customer service so I've concluded to not buy Toshiba again. Toshiba returned the repaired set. Here it is about a year and a half later and the same thing happened, a DVD is stuck making the DVD player useless. After many frustrating minutes and elevation to a supervisor, Toshiba finally agreed to send a postage paid label and pay the shipping costs.
Within 30 days of initial use, a DVD jammed in the player and would not eject. They told us to contact Toshiba directly for warranty work. We bought a Toshiba 19" TV with built in DVD player about a year and a half ago.
Toshiba wanted to make us pay to ship the defective product for warranted repairs. Too bad because I had good luck with old Toshiba TVs.The TV is fine, it's just the built in DVD player that is poor quality.I would not recommend a Toshiba with built in DVD player. We had purchased it at Circuit City and they had a 30 day return policy; we bought the TV for a Christmas present so the 30 days elapsed before it was even used the first time, my mistake.
Circuit City would not allow a return because the 30 days had expired.
Setting up the channels takes a long time once the channel scan is completed. The remote control is well designed (glows in the dark,) though I have yet to find how you can jump from one channel to the last watched channel. I chose this Toshiba because of its dual functionality.
The picture quality is fine, though I suggest spending time color correcting (read the manual). hmm. Nice to have the DVD feature.
My bedroom TV had to be white and small so the selection was limited. You always have to start at Channel 2, then methodically work your way up through the lineup. maybe I should get back to reading the manual.
Previous reviewers criticized the sound quality, which I don't find a problem because of my room configuration. I like to remove many channels from the sequence in the remote control up/down function - not easy on this model.
Great picture. This is the second 19" DVD TV Combo my wife and I purchased.
Still can't get used to the delay- The remote is not really user friendly. I have some computer speakers hooked up as others suggest.- Really slow to change channels. Bulky and confusing to operate.I knew of these issues before purchasing, and overall I am satisfied with the unit. I have owned this unit for about four months and feel free to make a few comments.Pro - The picture is excellent in DVD format. I only have standard cable (not HD) and the picture is excellent.- Lots of inputs- Nice standCons - The sound is tinny ( thin metallic sound ) and really sucks.
19" is the right size for this small room. White matches my decor pretty well, and gives a nice clear picture and sound. Nice little TV set. I use it to show DVDs in a guest room, and it works great.
